KitchenSink4Word — Claude Code MCP server: Word and setup
An MCP server for reading and editing .docx files with tracked revisions, templates, citations, and live work in an open Word document.
claude mcp add kitchensink4word -- uvx kitchensink4wordWhat KitchenSink4Word does
KitchenSink4Word exposes 231 Word actions through 10 tools. An AI client can read and edit .docx files, handle tracked revisions and comments, fill templates, combine chapter files, build tables, and add citations, footnotes, captions, and cross-references. It also supports document comparison, structure checks, and PDF import or export through Word.
Each change is backed up before saving, while ambiguous text matches are refused instead of silently changing the wrong passage. The server runs on Windows and requires Python 3.12 or newer. Basic file editing works without Microsoft Word; live editing, PDF features, comparison, and proofing require Word.
