IT Glue — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install
An MCP server connecting Claude Code to IT Glue to query organizations, hardware configurations, passwords, and documentation inside your chat.
claude mcp add --env ITGLUE_API_KEY=<ITGLUE_API_KEY> --env ITGLUE_REGION=<ITGLUE_REGION> --env ITGLUE_BASE_URL=<ITGLUE_BASE_URL> --env MCP_TRANSPORT=<MCP_TRANSPORT> --env AUTH_MODE=<AUTH_MODE> --transport stdio it-glue -- docker run -i --rm -e ITGLUE_API_KEY -e ITGLUE_REGION -e ITGLUE_BASE_URL -e MCP_TRANSPORT -e AUTH_MODE ghcr.io/wyre-ai/itglue-mcp:v1.20.2What IT Glue does
The server interacts directly with the IT Glue REST API without proprietary runtime dependencies. It gives your AI assistant access to client organizations, infrastructure configurations, flexible assets, and credentials. Both local stdio and remote http transports are available.
Authentication requires an ITGLUE_API_KEY matching the ITG.xxx format. You can target us, eu, or au datacenters via ITGLUE_REGION. The ITGLUE_JWT value remains purely optional. It serves as a fallback whenever an account API key cannot query document folder endpoints directly.
When running over HTTP, the process halts immediately if CONDUIT_S2S_SECRET is unset or left as a placeholder. The service enforces an HMAC-SHA256 signature check on incoming requests.
What it helps with
- retrieve credentials and passwords stored in IT Glue
- inspect infrastructure and server configurations
- search documentation across tenant folder structures
- create documentation directly in designated folders
Example prompts for the agent
- Search IT Glue for the Acme Corp firewall configuration
- Retrieve the database connection credentials for internal staging
- Create a new deployment checklist in the Operations folder

Questions about IT Glue
How to install IT Glue in Claude Code?
Register the server with Docker: `claude mcp add --env ITGLUE_API_KEY=<ITGLUE_API_KEY> --env ITGLUE_REGION=<ITGLUE_REGION> --env ITGLUE_BASE_URL=<ITGLUE_BASE_URL> --env MCP_TRANSPORT=<MCP_TRANSPORT> --env AUTH_MODE=<AUTH_MODE> --transport stdio it-glue -- docker run -i --rm -e ITGLUE_API_KEY -e ITGLUE_REGION -e ITGLUE_BASE_URL -e MCP_TRANSPORT -e AUTH_MODE ghcr.io/wyre-ai/itglue-mcp:v1.20.2`.
What does the IT Glue MCP server do?
It gives LLM clients programmatic tools to read organizations, view configuration items, extract passwords, and manage documents inside IT Glue.
When is ITGLUE_JWT needed?
It is an optional fallback used only if your organization API key lacks permissions to list and navigate document folders.
