Ignite UI Theming MCP Server — Claude Code MCP server for themes
Lets an AI assistant write Ignite UI theme code: palettes, typography and light or dark themes in Sass. Handy when you need a starting theme fast.
claude mcp add igniteui-theming -- npx -y igniteui-themingWhat Ignite UI Theming MCP Server does
The server exposes theming tools to your assistant. It builds colour palettes with shade variants, sets up typography systems, produces full light and dark themes, customises components through design tokens, and checks colours for accessibility.
Under the hood sits the igniteui-theming Sass library — mixins, functions and variables — plus the MCP server binary. The package is published to npm, so it runs with npx -y igniteui-theming and you never clone the repo. In the MCP Registry it appears as io.github.IgniteUI/igniteui-theming, which is how registry-aware clients add it.
Four palettes ship ready to use: material, bootstrap, fluent and indigo, along with typography and elevation presets. Elevation levels run from 0 to 24. If Node.js and npx are not on your PATH, the server will not start — check that before wiring up the client.
What it helps with
- build a palette with shade variants from brand colours
- apply a typography system that follows design standards
- generate both light and dark themes
- customise components with design tokens
- check colour contrast for accessibility
Example prompts for the agent
- Generate an Ignite UI palette based on #2a6df4
- Build an Ignite UI theme with fluent typography and elevations
- Check my theme colours for accessibility compliance
