Starwind UI MCP Server — Claude Code MCP server for Astro and React
Hands the agent current Starwind UI v3 knowledge: component search, install commands, docs and a v2-to-v3 migration path. Built for Astro and React work.
claude mcp add mcp -- npx -y @starwind-ui/mcpWhat Starwind UI MCP Server does
The TypeScript server treats Starwind UI v3 as three separate surfaces: styled components, primitives and Runtime. Component discovery and install go through starwind_search and starwind_add, reference material through starwind_docs, and starwind_migrate inspects a project before suggesting the move off v2.
Everything is validated against the versioned ai-manifest.json and cached. If the site is down, a bundled v3 snapshot takes over. The server writes the CLI command but never runs it; package manager and project context are picked up locally and passed along in the generated line.
Node.js 22.12.0 or newer is required for the commands it produces. starwind_init expects an existing Astro 5+ or React 18+ project. Pro blocks are Astro-only today — React searches leave them out, and React install requests get rejected. Paid blocks need authorization, so pass pro: true only when it is genuinely required.
What it helps with
- find a component that matches your framework
- produce an install command for a component
- pull exact Runtime documentation
- plan a move from Starwind UI v2 to v3
- tell free Pro blocks from paid ones
Example prompts for the agent
- Search Starwind UI for a card component for Astro and show me the install command
- Inspect my project and outline a Starwind UI v2 to v3 migration
- Fetch the Starwind UI Runtime docs
