What obsidian-source-ingestion does

The skill takes an external item and files it as a source note in the current project-scoped Obsidian vault. Target folders are Sources/Papers/, Sources/Web/, Sources/Docs/, Sources/Data/, Sources/Interviews/ and Sources/Notes/. Which one gets the note depends on the material.

Notes stay source-centered rather than synthesis-centered. Every new canonical source note updates _system/registry.md, and important sources also update 02-Index.md. If the material arrived during an active work session, a short entry goes into today's Daily/. A top-level Papers/ folder is not created — that is the usual mistake when filing by hand.

Bundled references cover the details: references/SOURCE-TYPES.md, references/PAPER-SOURCE-NOTES.md, references/WEB-SOURCE-NOTES.md, references/DATA-SOURCE-NOTES.md and references/INTERVIEW-SOURCE-NOTES.md. The skill assumes a vault that already has _system/registry.md, 02-Index.md and Daily/ in place; without them there is nothing to update.

What it helps with

  • file an article or web page as a source note instead of loose text
  • sort material by kind: papers, web, docs, data, interviews
  • update _system/registry.md when a new source lands
  • flag an important source in 02-Index.md
  • log in Daily/ that material arrived mid-session

Example prompts for the agent

  • add this article as a source note in the project Obsidian vault
  • file this interview under Sources/Interviews/ and update the registry
  • put this web page in Sources/Web/ and flag it in the index
