freebase.cloud — Claude Code MCP server: setup and overview
Connects AI assistants to 15 cloud database engines through a single HTTP endpoint. Run queries, insert data, and document schemas directly from prompts.
Open on GitHubWhat freebase.cloud does
The server exposes remote databases to MCP clients via Streamable HTTP at https://freebase.cloud/api/mcp/{token}. It links with fifteen engines, covering relational systems like PostgreSQL, key-value stores like Redis, and analytics platforms like ClickHouse. Each connection provides four instruments: native dialect reads (db_query), writes (db_store), container inspection (db_list_tables), and schema descriptions (db_annotate_table). PostgreSQL and SQLite include extra helpers such as pg_dump and sqlite_version.
Security requires caution because your URL path contains the secret token. Committing your configuration file exposes database credentials directly. Before setting up your client, sign up on the freebase.cloud dashboard to generate a connection token. Using the table annotation tool prevents query errors, as language models struggle with status integers or soft delete filters without explicit documentation.
What it helps with
- run queries across 15 databases using their native dialects
- insert and update rows or documents during agent sessions
- document column definitions and schema rules for the assistant
- inspect remote tables, keyspaces, and indices inside the workspace
Example prompts for the agent
- Inspect all collections in the database using
db_list_tables - Execute a Cypher query in Neo4j with
db_queryto find connected nodes - Save column descriptions for the payments table via
db_annotate_table

Questions about freebase.cloud
How to install freebase.cloud in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add --transport http freebase https://freebase.cloud/api/mcp/{token} in your terminal. Replace {token} with the value obtained from your dashboard settings.
What does freebase.cloud do?
It provides an HTTP gateway that lets coding agents interact with 15 database engines. Agents can run native queries, store records, list containers, and read schema annotations.
How does authentication work?
The access token sits inside the URL path instead of an Authorization header. Treat the entire endpoint address as a credential and rotate it in the dashboard if it leaks.
