Engram · get-engram — MCP memory server for Claude Code and other clients
Keeps every agent conversation word for word and finds it again by meaning. One shared memory across Claude, Codex, Cursor, Copilot and Zed.
claude mcp add --transport http engram https://mcp.getengram.app/mcpWhat Engram does
Engram is a remote MCP server that saves each message of a conversation as sent, with no summarising or compression, and later retrieves the right part by meaning. Search runs on bge-base-en-v1.5 embeddings. The whole thing lives on Cloudflare: Workers running a Hono.js API, D1 for messages and metadata, Vectorize as the search index. Six tools are exposed over MCP: create_conversation, append_messages, search, get_conversation, list_conversations, delete_conversation.
There is no API key to copy. The server handles MCP authorization on its own (RFC 9728, 8414, 7591 plus PKCE): the client discovers it, registers, and opens a browser sign-in. A free account is created during that sign-in. The Claude plugin also brings a skill that tells the agent when to look in memory and what deserves saving.
Clients that only speak stdio need the mcp-remote bridge through npx, which drives the same browser flow. The older npx @getengram/cli mcp setup does not work — the CLI has no such command. Free covers 1,000 messages a month, Pro is $9/mo for 100,000, Team is $27 per seat per month for 500,000.
What it helps with
- recall last week's discussion of a schema by meaning, not by date
- restore project context in a fresh agent session
- keep a full transcript instead of a summary
- separate memory per organization and give the team seats
- delete a conversation along with its data
Example prompts for the agent
- Search memory for what we decided about auth last time
- Save this conversation and tag it
api-design - List my conversations from the past week

Questions about Engram
How do I install Engram in Claude Code?
Add the marketplace with /plugin marketplace add get-engram/engram, then install the plugin: /plugin install engram@engram. Restart Claude and approve access in the browser.
What does Engram do?
It stores every message of a conversation verbatim and lets you search it semantically. The memory is shared across connected MCP clients, so context survives between sessions.
Does Engram need an API key?
No. The server runs the MCP authorization flow itself and opens a browser sign-in, where a free account is created. For stdio-only clients the mcp-remote bridge drives the same flow.
