Drop2Run — Claude Code MCP server: publish files to a live HTTPS link
Lets an agent publish what it just wrote — a page, a markdown or PDF file — and hand back a working URL.
claude mcp add --transport http drop2run https://mcp.dropto.run/mcpWhat Drop2Run does
Drop2Run is an MCP server that takes text files from your agent and puts them online. Twenty tools sit in five groups: publishing (publish_files, publish_dir), site management, sharing, comments, and sign-in. publish_dir reads a folder from disk, so it only exists in the local build.
Two ways to connect. Run it locally with npx -y @drop2run/mcp and sign in through the login and login_code tools. Or point your client at https://mcp.dropto.run/mcp, where the hosted copy asks you to authenticate as it connects. Either sign-in lands in the same token store the CLI uses, so one covers both.
Destructive calls are guarded: delete_site and change_subdomain make you type the site's current subdomain back before they run. To take a site offline without losing it, pause_site reverses. Only text files get published. The Drop2Run service behind the API is closed source; what you can read is the code running on your machine, with your token and your privileges.
What it helps with
- send a client a link to a finished page instead of a zip
- put a markdown doc online the moment the agent finishes it
- publish a built site from the
distfolder - roll a site back to an earlier version
- invite someone to review a site and work through comments
Example prompts for the agent
- Publish the
distfolder and give me the link - Put
report.mdonline as its own site - List my sites and pause the last one

Questions about Drop2Run
How do I install Drop2Run in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add drop2run -- npx -y @drop2run/mcp. For the hosted copy with nothing running locally, use claude mcp add --transport http drop2run https://mcp.dropto.run/mcp.
What does Drop2Run do?
It publishes text files — a page, markdown or PDF — and returns an HTTPS link. The same server also manages sites, sharing and comments through MCP tools.
How is the local server different from the hosted one?
The local server runs through npx and can read a folder from disk with publish_dir, signing in via the login and login_code tools. The hosted one connects by URL and authenticates on connection.
