divlens — Claude Code MCP server: features and setup

This MCP server gives AI agents live access to CPU, memory, storage, network, and hardware data for local system diagnosis.

What divlens does

divlens connects an MCP client to the host machine and exposes 17 diagnostic tools. An agent can inspect CPU and RAM usage, swap, processes, mounted storage, file types, network state, drivers, system logs, developer runtimes, and hardware health. It can also locate large files and search earlier diagnoses.

The server is written in Rust and communicates through newline-delimited JSON-RPC 2.0 over stdio. Its internals include a SQLite cache plus native system interfaces such as IOKit and WMI. Data stays on the machine, with no cloud service or API key involved. The installer fetches a prebuilt binary, checks its SHA-256 checksum, and configures supported AI clients.

Building from source requires Rust 1.82+. Restart the AI client after installation, or the new MCP connection will not become active.

What it helps with

  • inspect current CPU and RAM usage
  • identify processes consuming system resources
  • check storage capacity and SSD health
  • review active network connections
  • locate large or stale files

Example prompts for the agent

  • Show the current CPU and RAM load, then list the processes using the most resources.
  • Use get_hardware_diagnostics and get_storage_diagnostics to check the drives.
  • Find the largest files on this machine and explain where the storage is going.

Questions about divlens

How do I install divlens in Claude Code?

On macOS or Linux, run curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Lohithry/divlens-mcp/main/install.sh | bash, then restart the AI client.

What does divlens do?

It gives an AI agent local access to system metrics through 17 MCP tools covering performance, storage, networking, hardware, logs, processes, and developer runtimes.

Do I need Rust or an API key?

A prebuilt binary needs neither Rust nor an API key. Rust 1.82+ is required when compiling the server from source.
