claude-real-video — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, install
Processes video locally into key frames and a transcript so an agent can answer questions about the recording. Works with URLs and local files.
claude mcp add claude-real-video -- uvx claude-real-videoWhat claude-real-video does
claude-real-video runs an MCP server locally and accepts a video URL or file path. It selects frames around scene changes, removes near-duplicates, transcribes the audio, and writes an output folder with frames, timestamps, a transcript, and MANIFEST.txt.
An agent can use those files to answer questions about the video. The package also includes the local crv-web page and a --viewer option for inspecting frames and the transcript. Use --from and --to for a time range, --adaptive for gradual changes, or --text-anchors for subtitle-timed frames. The Claude Code setup runs the server through uvx.
What it helps with
- inspect a video by key scene
- create a transcript with timestamps
- ask questions about a local video
- limit analysis to a time range
- review extracted frames in a local viewer
Example prompts for the agent
- Watch this video and list its key scenes with timestamps.
- Analyze this video file and find the moment where the requested screen appears.
- Process the section with
--from 28:00 --to 43:00, then answer from the frames and transcript.
