BackPow PoW Oracle — Claude Code MCP server: features and setup
This MCP server gives an AI agent access to Proof of Work network and mining hardware data. Use it to check solo-mining odds, production costs, or hardware returns.
claude mcp add --transport http pow-mining-oracle https://mcp.backpow.com/mcpWhat BackPow PoW Oracle does
BackPow PoW Oracle exposes tools for querying network difficulty and hashrate, estimating solo-mining probabilities, comparing production cost with market price, and checking hardware profitability. It can also filter tracked networks by algorithm or profitability and return recent mining news. The six tools are read-only, and none can execute a transaction.
Connect over HTTP or run the local package, @backpow/mcp-server, over stdio. The remote endpoint requires neither an API key nor an account. Results include a measurement time and a citation line, which matters because difficulty, hashrate, and price keep changing. When a ticker matches several networks, the server returns an error with candidate networks rather than guessing.
What it helps with
- estimate solo-mining odds and expected time
- compare a coin's production cost with its market price
- check a network's current difficulty and hashrate
- rank coins by expected returns for mining hardware
- filter Proof of Work networks by algorithm or profitability
Example prompts for the agent
- Estimate the odds and expected wait for solo-mining Bitcoin at 100 TH/s, including electricity costs.
- Compare Monero's production cost with its current market price.
- Rank coins by net daily return for an RTX 4090 at 0.10 USD/kWh.

Questions about BackPow PoW Oracle
How do I install BackPow PoW Oracle in Claude Code?
Add the remote MCP server with claude mcp add --transport http pow-mining-oracle https://mcp.backpow.com/mcp. This connection needs no API key or account.
What does BackPow PoW Oracle do?
It gives an agent tools for querying Proof of Work networks and mining hardware, estimating solo-mining odds, and checking profitability. The tools are read-only.
How does it handle a ticker shared by multiple networks?
It responds with an error and the matching candidates instead of choosing a network. That keeps the result tied to an explicit network selection.
