What Azure MCP Server does

This tool connects AI agents with Microsoft Azure services over the Model Context Protocol. It bundles cloud infrastructure tools into one local server. As a result, the assistant does not need separate integrations for each cloud task.

Execution relies on the @azure/mcp package. You can run it standalone inside Claude Code or alongside the GitHub Copilot for Azure extension. Because launch happens via npx, Node.js must be present on your system.

What it helps with

  • connect AI coding assistants to Microsoft Azure infrastructure
  • manage cloud services through agent environments and code editors
  • run Azure tools locally without managing separate plugins for each service

Example prompts for the agent

  • List all available resources in my active Azure subscription.
  • Check the status of Azure services in the current resource group.
