AlbumentationsX MCP — Claude Code MCP server
An MCP server for dataset inspection, augmentation previews, run comparison, and reproducible pipeline export. Works with Claude Code and other listed MCP hosts.
claude mcp add --env ALBU_MCP_ALLOWED_ROOTS=<ALBU_MCP_ALLOWED_ROOTS> --env ALBU_MCP_ARTIFACT_ROOT=<ALBU_MCP_ARTIFACT_ROOT> --env ALBU_MCP_MAX_PREVIEW_RUNS=<ALBU_MCP_MAX_PREVIEW_RUNS> --transport stdio albumentationsx-mcp -- uvx albumentationsx-mcpWhat AlbumentationsX MCP does
AlbumentationsX MCP gives an agent tools for discovering transforms, checking schemas, and reviewing image-processing results across classification, detection, segmentation, OCR, masks, bounding boxes, and keypoints. It can build contact sheets, show annotation overlays, compare preview runs, rank candidates, and export accepted pipelines as Python, JSON, or YAML.
The server includes CPU validation for torch.Tensor pipelines, structured feedback, tuning sessions, and a text-only review path when MCP Apps are unavailable. In Claude Code, the basic setup is claude mcp add albu-mcp -- uvx albumentationsx-mcp; environment variables can define the permitted image and artifact locations. Reads stay inside --allowed-root, while generated files remain under --artifact-root.
It cannot run free-form Python, retrieve images from the network, modify source datasets, or train models. The review capability profile uses a separate validation and rendering path; run_first_preview needs the full or dataset profile. That distinction matters when the first preview fails to start.
What it helps with
- inspect a dataset before tuning augmentations
- compare preview runs with contact sheets
- review masks and annotation overlays
- export an accepted pipeline as Python, JSON, or YAML
- validate a CPU
torch.Tensorpipeline
Example prompts for the agent
- Inspect
/absolute/path/to/images, create a first preview at low intensity, and show the contact sheet. - Compare the augmentation variants and reject the result marked
too_noisy:high. - Run the host smoke check, then call
trace_preview_variantfor the selected result before changing the pipeline.
How to install AlbumentationsX MCP
Platform CLI

Questions about AlbumentationsX MCP
How do I install AlbumentationsX MCP in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add albu-mcp -- uvx albumentationsx-mcp, then connect the server in Claude Code.
What does AlbumentationsX MCP do?
It lets an agent inspect datasets, review and compare augmentation previews, validate annotations, and export reproducible pipelines.
What access limits does AlbumentationsX MCP have?
File reads are confined to approved paths, and generated artifacts stay in the artifact directory. The server also avoids arbitrary Python execution, network image retrieval, dataset changes, and model training.
