AI Watercolor Generator — Claude Code MCP server: install
This MCP server creates watercolor images from text and turns local JPEG, PNG, or WebP files into watercolor paintings.
claude mcp add watercolor -e AIWATERCOLOR_API_KEY=<AIWATERCOLOR_API_KEY> -- npx -y @ai-watercolor-generator/mcpWhat AI Watercolor Generator does
The server exposes four tools to an agent. generate_watercolor starts an image from a text prompt, upload_watercolor_input accepts a local file, edit_watercolor submits an uploaded image for processing, and get_watercolor_task reads task status, output, or failure details. Generation and editing run asynchronously, so the task must be checked every 2–5 seconds after submission.
The package runs as a local stdio server through npx; processing, storage, credits, and limits stay on the hosted API. It requires Node.js 20 or newer, an AIWATERCOLOR_API_KEY, and account credits. Without Node.js 20, the server will not start. When you upload an image, the file is sent to hosted storage, so review the path before approving the tool call.
What it helps with
- create a watercolor illustration from a text prompt
- turn a local JPEG, PNG, or WebP into a watercolor
- check an asynchronous generation task
- retrieve a task result or failure detail
Example prompts for the agent
- Create a watercolor scene of a red cottage beside a quiet lake with
generate_watercolor. - Upload
/absolute/path/to/source-image.pngwithupload_watercolor_input, then turn it into a watercolor withedit_watercolor. - Check the task with
get_watercolor_taskand tell me whether the output is ready.
