agentskb — Claude Code MCP server: sourced answers for your agent
Hooks your coding agent up to a base of researched answers on databases, frameworks and infrastructure. Handy when you want a fact with a source link rather than a guess.
claude mcp add agentskb -- npx -y @agentskb/cliWhat agentskb does
agentskb is a hosted MCP server. There is nothing to build or run on your machine, and the repository holds documentation plus a place to file bugs. Your client talks to https://mcp.agentskb.com/mcp-kb over streamable HTTP. No API key, no signup.
Seven tools ship with it. ask_question returns an answer with sources, preflight_check shows what verified material already exists for a task, search_questions browses Q&As by topic, get_stats reports coverage numbers, consult_taxonomy walks the domain tree, check_prerequisites lists foundational topics, and get_lockfile_status tells you whether pinned-answer mode is on. Two resources come along as well: agentskb://context/current for the detected project stack and agentskb://context/prompt for a system-prompt fragment matching it.
Coverage is uneven — 55,000+ Q&As across 287 domains, with the deepest material on PostgreSQL, Prisma, Drizzle, Next.js, NextAuth, Vue, Docker, Bash, nginx and Git. Ask about something outside that and the server queues the topic for research, replying Topic '<name>' research queued instead of inventing an answer; you have to come back later. Questions must be written out in full — a bare mysql gets rejected. Older clients that cannot reach remote HTTP servers need a bridge through mcp-remote.
What it helps with
- get a PostgreSQL answer backed by official docs
- check whether a task already has a written-up Q&A
- find the foundational topics to learn before touching a domain
- see which domains are covered and which are not
- pull the current project stack into a system prompt
Example prompts for the agent
- Ask agentskb how a PostgreSQL index scan works and show me the sources
- Use agentskb to check what is already known about Prisma with Drizzle
- What Docker basics should I read up on before this task?

Questions about agentskb
How do I install agentskb in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add agentskb -- npx -y @agentskb/cli, then confirm the connection with claude mcp list.

No. The server lives at https://mcp.agentskb.com/mcp-kb and works without a key or a signup.
