gws-gmail-triage — Claude Code command: what it does, how to install
Displays a summary of unread Gmail inbox messages with sender, subject, and date using the Google Workspace CLI.
npx claude-code-templates@latest --command google-workspace/gws-gmail-triageWhat gws-gmail-triage does
The command queries your Gmail inbox and presents unread email headers in a clean table format. By default, it retrieves up to 20 messages matching the is:unread search filter, providing the sender, subject line, and date.
You can refine the output using CLI parameters: --max changes the message limit, --query accepts custom Gmail search queries, and --labels includes message labels in the output. The operation is strictly read-only, ensuring mailbox contents remain untouched.
Execution requires the Google Workspace CLI (gws) on your machine and an active session verified via gws auth status. Missing credentials will prevent Claude Code from querying the mailbox.
What it helps with
- scan unread Gmail messages directly from the terminal
- filter incoming unread emails by sender or custom query
- review message dates and subjects without opening a browser
Example prompts for the agent
- /gws-gmail-triage
- /gws-gmail-triage --max 5 --query 'from:boss'
- /gws-gmail-triage --labels
