Macau's gross gaming revenue reached $2.71 billion in August 2026, down 1.2% year-on-year. The result missed Citigroup's revised forecast of $2.79 billion, which had anticipated 2% growth. Month-on-month GGR rose 8.1% from July's $2.51 billion.
Citigroup had lowered its estimate in late August, banking on support from concerts by i-dle, Louis Koo and the FNC Band Kingdom 2026 festival at Galaxy, The Londoner and The Venetian arenas. Those expectations did not materialise.
For the first eight months of 2026, cumulative GGR stood at $20.95 billion, up 3.7% on the same period last year. The figure remains 14.7% below January–August 2019 levels. August alone trailed the pre-pandemic baseline by 9.8%.
The August decline marks the fourth consecutive year-on-year drop, even as Macau authorities maintain their official 2026 full-year forecast at $29.2 billion. Recovery continues to lag analyst expectations.
