Lottery operator Allwyn reported net revenue growth of 27% in the second quarter, reaching €1.25bn against €979m a year earlier. The jump was driven by the acquisition of a controlling stake in US daily fantasy operator PrizePicks in January. Adjusted EBITDA rose 29% from €355m to €458m, with margin expanding from 36.3% to 36.8%.
Excluding the deal and a gambling tax increase in Austria, organic revenue growth came in at 5% and EBITDA at 9%. Continental Europe saw revenue climb 4% to €731m, while the UK posted just 2% growth to €236m — but UK EBITDA surged from €6m to €23m following the completion of National Lottery technology upgrades. North America, boosted by PrizePicks, contributed €294m in revenue versus €54m a year prior, with segment EBITDA of €104m.
Lottery revenue fell 2% to €498m due to weaker jackpot cycles, while sports betting gained 12% and iGaming climbed 24%. Betano, a minority holding of Allwyn, grew revenue 26% in constant currency, though Allwyn's share of Betano net profit dropped 3% to €61m.
CEO Robert Chvátal reaffirmed full-year guidance: revenue growth in the mid to high twenties and EBITDA margin around 37%. Allwyn became the first operator outside the US to launch Powerball, rolling it out in the UK, Austria and the Czech Republic. After the quarter closed, Allwyn raised its stake in German online lottery retailer Next Lotto to 64.53%, securing control.
