Station Casinos pilots Apple Pay payments directly on Las Vegas slot machines

Station Casinos is running a field trial of Apple Pay funding on slot machines at several Las Vegas properties. A player taps their iPhone or Apple Watch against the machine, confirms payment with a debit card from Apple Wallet, and credits appear instantly. No separate casino app, loyalty enrolment or registration is required.

The TrustedTap technology comes from Las Vegas-based Adostics. The A-POD device installs on existing machines in minutes and runs alongside standard bill acceptors and TITO systems. The pilot is live at Durango Casino & Resort bars, Seventy Six taverns and Wildfire Anthem. Daily funding is capped at $2,000; players can set a lower limit. The system accepts only debit cards through Apple Pay, not credit.

The Nevada Gaming Control Board is reviewing the system before Station Casinos can expand it to other sites. Regulators are checking payment security, responsible gaming compliance and AML standards. Under state rules, a field trial is a supervisory test, not a licence, and Station cannot roll the technology out to new locations until the review closes. TrustedTap uses Apple Pay tokenisation: the casino never receives or stores the player's card number. Remaining credits and winnings cash out through standard TITO.

Brad Egnor, chief marketing officer at Adostics, said players value not carrying cash around the casino floor — it is convenient and safer. Regulators are mindful of the Resorts World Las Vegas experience: the property returned to cash and TITO this year after five years of cashless-only operation, citing low adoption, registration friction and AML difficulties. Nevada is the first state to test Apple Pay for direct on-floor slot funding. The board's decision will determine whether the system moves beyond the pilot.
