New York investment firm Kennedy Lewis Investment Management has acquired majority ownership of The Greenbrier resort in West Virginia through a $500m transaction with the Justice family.
The West Virginia Lottery Commission has allowed the casino to continue operating while it reviews the deal. The gaming floor features 31 table games, over 160 slot machines and a FanDuel sportsbook. Operations continue without interruption.
The Justice Family Group has owned the resort since 2009. Both parties say the new ownership structure will provide resources for long-term investment in the property. Kennedy Lewis appointed Lloyd Nathan as board chair; he spent nearly a decade at MGM Resorts International.
Jill Justice, representing the former ownership, said the partnership will ensure financial stability and protect the resort's role in the local community. David Chene, managing partner at Kennedy Lewis, said the firm intends to strengthen the property's standing among the world's leading resorts, drawing on the fund's operational experience and the Justice family's regional ties.
The Greenbrier remains open with all reservations, conferences and events proceeding as scheduled. The resort offers accommodation, dining, golf, spa, casino, conference facilities and sports activities.
