vibe-workflow — Claude Code skill: what it does, how to install
This skill picks a workflow for a new app, an existing project change, or a bug. Use it when the next step depends on the project's current state.
npx skills add KhazP/vibe-coding-prompt-template --skill vibe-workflow -a claude-codeWhat vibe-workflow does
The skill routes work according to the request and project state. For a new product, it selects an appropriate amount of research and planning; for an existing one, it works within the current architecture. For a bug, it directs the agent to reproduce the failure, diagnose it, fix it, and verify the result. Requests for instructions or handoff materials stay within that scope, without starting an unrequested implementation or deployment.
It reuses answered questions and handoff context, asks about consequential decisions that remain open, and states other assumptions. It also guides where to keep stable constraints, product decisions, and current progress. The five stages are a route, not a required document set for every edit.
The skill can use vibe-agents for project instructions and vibe-build for a new implementation, but only when those skills exist in the target environment. That availability matters: named skills are not guaranteed to be installed. Reports should separate completed checks from those not performed and identify concrete blockers.
What it helps with
- choose a planning path for a new app
- change an existing project within its architecture
- reproduce and fix a bug
- prepare project instructions or handoff materials
- separate completed checks from unperformed ones
Example prompts for the agent
- Review this new app request and choose how much planning to do before implementation.
- Fix the bug in the existing app, verify the result, and report which checks you ran.
- Prepare handoff instructions for the project without starting implementation.

Questions about vibe-workflow
How do I install vibe-workflow in Claude Code?
Run npx skills add KhazP/vibe-coding-prompt-template --skill vibe-workflow -a claude-code. The skill file is at ~/.claude/skills/vibe-workflow/SKILL.md.
What does vibe-workflow do?
It chooses a workflow based on the request and project state: planning for a new product, changing an existing one, or debugging a failure. It also keeps the work within the requested scope and distinguishes completed checks from skipped ones.
Do all five stages apply to every project change?
No. The stages are a route, not mandatory approval gates or a document checklist. For an existing product, the skill directs work within its current architecture.

--- name: vibe-workflow description: "Select the appropriate planning, implementation, or debugging workflow for an app project." allowed-tools: Read, Write, Edit, Glob, Grep, Bash, AskUserQuestion --- # App workflow router Use the request and existing project state to choose the next useful action. Load only the context needed to identify the outcome, constraints, and current implementation. An existing file does not prove that a stage is complete. - **New product:** use research, PRD, and technical design skills selectively. Quick mode needs a clear outcome, constraints, and acceptance journey; deeper planning is useful for unresolved integrations or consequential decisions. - **Existing product:** implement the requested change in the current architecture. Use a change skill if available; missing planning documents do not require restarting discovery. - **Broken behavior:** reproduce, diagnose, fix, and verify the failure. Use a debugging skill if available, without redoing the new-product interview. - **Instructions or handoff only:** produce the requested artifacts and report their limits; do not begin an unrequested implementation or deployment. Use `vibe-agents` when creating project instructions, `vibe-build` for a new implementation, and an available verification skill for a relevant user journey. Only invoke skills actually present in the target environment. The five stages are a useful route, not five approval gates or a mandatory document set for every edit. Reuse answered questions and Handoff Context. Ask for missing consequential decisions; otherwise proceed with clearly stated assumptions. Keep stable constraints in AGENTS.md, decisions in product documents, and current progress in MEMORY.md where the project uses it. One builder is sufficient unless independent work and available tools justify delegation. Complete the scope the user requested, including relevant checks and fixes. When reporting, distinguish actual results from unperformed checks and name any concrete blocker. Do not stop at the first implementation if a working product was requested; do not publish merely because local work is complete.
