verify · timschoch — Claude Code skill: what it does, how to install
Defines a single source of truth for gate checks across git hooks and CI. Keeps local pre-push checks and pull request pipelines aligned.
npx skills add timschoch/skilly --skill verify -a claude-codeWhat verify does
The skill standardizes gate steps so local git hooks and CI pipelines execute the same checks. Default definitions live in references/verify.json, while repo-specific tweaks sit in .skilly/verify.json. An execution runner named verify.mjs handles stages through Node.js. It yields exit code 0 on success, 2 for configuration mistakes, or the exit code of whichever step failed.
Stages can extend earlier stages. For example, push runs inherited commit steps alongside its own checks. Stages can also drop or substitute steps using without or replaces. In unit testing, it targets changed files by default. If a diff touches critical files like package.json or schema directories, it triggers the full test suite instead.
Dependency audits fail whenever high or critical vulnerabilities appear. Ignoring an advisory requires both an id and an explicit why reason in the configuration, otherwise the check rejects the bypass.
What it helps with
- align gate checks between local git hooks and CI pipelines
- run unit tests on changed files with full suite triggers
- block destructive git operations during agent execution
- record audited security exceptions with mandatory rationale
Example prompts for the agent
- Run the push verification stage using verify.mjs
- Print the resolved steps for the ci stage as JSON
- Output the merged verification configuration without running steps

Questions about verify
How to install verify in Claude Code?
Run npx skills add timschoch/skilly --skill verify -a claude-code.
What does verify do?
It provides a shared configuration for quality gates so that local git hooks and remote CI pipelines evaluate the exact same steps without drift.
When does verify trigger the full test suite instead of changed files?
The unit (changed) step runs tests for modified files, but triggers the full suite when diffs match paths defined in fullSuiteTriggers. This includes files like package.json or directories like drizzle/.
