What superlevels-chrome-extension does

SuperLevels folds a dozen small browser add-ons into one extension: it closes idle tabs, edits cookies, flips pages to dark mode, toggles JavaScript, dismisses consent banners, edits CSS live, recognizes music and formats JSON. Settings stay in chrome.storage.local. Nothing is sent anywhere.

The skill hands the agent a map of the codebase. manifest.json is version 3, popup.html and popup.js drive the toolbar UI, background.js runs as a service worker, and content.js is injected into pages. Reusable patterns are included too: per-domain keys like feature_domain, tab activity tracking in the service worker, and a CSS filter for dark mode that re-inverts images and video. There is no build step, so plain JavaScript loads as is.

One thing to weigh: the manifest asks for tabs, cookies, storage, scripting, webNavigation and <all_urls> access. On a fork you did not write, that is worth a look before you load it.

What it helps with

  • close idle tabs after a timeout
  • turn on dark mode for one domain
  • restyle a site with custom CSS without reloading
  • inspect cookies and clear the ones you don't want
  • wire a new feature into the popup

Example prompts for the agent

  • Add a new feature to SuperLevels and hook it up in popup.js
  • Configure the tab cleaner to close tabs idle for more than 5 minutes, skipping github.com
  • Apply dark mode to this domain from content.js and persist the setting in chrome.storage.local
