skill-creator · starchild-ai-agent — Claude Code skill: what it does, how to install
Scaffolds folder layouts, metadata frontmatter, and starter SKILL.md files for agent skills. Use it when packaging API wrappers or building custom workflows.
npx skills add Starchild-ai-agent/official-skills --skill skill-creator -a claude-codeWhat skill-creator does
This skill organizes agent skills around progressive disclosure to prevent context window bloat. The core SKILL.md file stays lean, capped under 500 lines, focusing on decision logic, triggers, and edge cases. Heavy reference materials live in references/, static output files go to assets/, and delicate code moves into scripts/ where it executes via shell instead of crowding prompt context.
Scaffolding runs through an included init_skill.py Python script. For modifications, the skill relies on skill_manage, which validates frontmatter, runs security checks, and refreshes the cache automatically.
Keep in mind that skill_manage fails on create if the target name already exists, requiring edit or patch actions instead.
What it helps with
- Scaffold standard directory layouts for new skills
- Generate a starter SKILL.md with valid frontmatter metadata
- Separate executable script files from prompt context
- Package external API integrations into structured agent skills
Example prompts for the agent
- Scaffold a new API wrapper skill with a scripts folder
- Create a starter skill for generating charts and reports
- Set up a trading strategy skill with reference documentation
