What roblox-remote-events does

The skill covers picking between RemoteEvent, RemoteFunction and UnreliableRemoteEvent, with a table of direction and whether a value comes back. Its advice: default to RemoteEvent, and skip server-to-client RemoteFunction calls, because a frozen callback on an exploiter's client stalls your server thread.

Then come the patterns. Remotes live in ReplicatedStorage and get created by a server Script before any LocalScript runs. You get templates for FireServer, FireClient, FireAllClients, InvokeServer, plus high-frequency syncing with UnreliableRemoteEvent. A mistakes table catches the usual slips: OnServerEvent inside a LocalScript, remotes parked in ServerStorage, a missing WaitForChild, several OnServerInvoke assignments where only the last one wins.

Security is the part that matters. The client is treated as hostile, so every argument gets checked on the server: per-player cooldown, type checks, a clamp on the value, and target and weapon resolved from server state. The exploit table names argument injection, remote spam, spoofed targets, replayed actions and damage amplification. If odd damage numbers or duplicated items have shown up in your game, start there.

What it helps with

  • choose between RemoteEvent, RemoteFunction and UnreliableRemoteEvent
  • create a Remotes folder in ReplicatedStorage from a server Script
  • type-check arguments inside OnServerEvent
  • rate-limit a single player's remote calls
  • block spoofed targets and amplified damage

Example prompts for the agent

  • Set up a RemoteEvent for dealing damage to a target in Roblox
  • Review my OnServerEvent for holes an exploiter could use
  • Sync character position with UnreliableRemoteEvent

Questions about roblox-remote-events

How do I install roblox-remote-events in Claude?

Run npx skills add sentinelcore/roblox-skills --skill roblox-remote-events -a claude-code. The skill then sits at ~/.claude/skills/roblox-remote-events/SKILL.md.

What does roblox-remote-events do?

It tells the agent how to wire communication between a LocalScript and a server Script in Roblox: which remote type to use, how to fire it, and what to validate on the server.

How is RemoteEvent different from RemoteFunction?

RemoteEvent returns nothing and works in either direction; RemoteFunction returns a value and makes the caller wait. The skill recommends RemoteEvent as the default.
