roblox-security — Claude Code skill: what it does, how to install
Audits and hardens Roblox game code against exploits, remote abuse, and DataStore duplication. Useful before releasing places or updating in-game economies.
npx skills add TabooHarmony/roblox-brain --skill roblox-security -a claude-codeWhat roblox-security does
The skill audits Roblox place code under the rule that the client is always compromised. It checks remote boundaries to enforce type validation on all arguments, remote rate limits, and server-side currency mutation. For monetization and persistence, it reviews ProcessReceipt verification, atomic trading flows, DataStore session-locking, and BindToClose handlers.
Implementation depends on the chosen authority setup. Under classic replication, the server validates damage, inventory, and permissions against its own state. For Workspace.AuthorityMode = Server, the skill relies on BindToSimulation() paired with UseFixedSimulation rather than broad Heartbeat corrections. It treats ProximityPrompt, ClickDetector, and DragDetector inputs with the same scrutiny as remote events.
Server bans via Players:BanAsync require Players.BanningEnabled set to true and must run inside pcall. Relying on client-side anti-cheat or code obfuscation fails immediately once an exploiter bypasses the local script.
What it helps with
- audit remote events for missing argument type validation and rate limits
- secure ProcessReceipt purchases and prevent currency duplication
- implement DataStore session-locking with BindToClose protection
- validate ProximityPrompt and ClickDetector interactions on the server
- handle Players:BanAsync calls safely with pcall error wrapping
Example prompts for the agent
- Audit my remote event handlers for client-trust vulnerabilities and missing type checks.
- Review this shop receipt script to ensure ProcessReceipt and currency mutations are secure.
- Check our DataStore saving flow for session locks and BindToClose handling.

Questions about roblox-security
How to install roblox-security in Claude Code?
Run npx skills add TabooHarmony/roblox-brain --skill roblox-security -a claude-code. The skill file installs to ~/.claude/skills/roblox-security/SKILL.md.
What does roblox-security audit in a Roblox project?
It audits remote boundaries, server authority models, purchase verification through ProcessReceipt, DataStore session-locking, and admin ban execution.
What is required before calling Players:BanAsync?
The method is server-only, requires Players.BanningEnabled to be enabled, and should be wrapped in a pcall to handle failures safely.

Remote validation/rate limits: `roblox-networking`. ## Quick Reference **Core:** Client is always compromised. The server remains the source of truth, but the implementation depends on the authority model. ### Authority Models - **Classic replication:** validate client requests against server state. Never trust client damage, currency, inventory, permissions, or positions. - **Server Authority:** `Workspace.AuthorityMode = Server`: the server owns core simulation while clients predict and recover from misprediction. Use `BindToSimulation()` (needs `UseFixedSimulation`), not blanket `Heartbeat` correction. Cheap for stock characters, rewrite-scale for authored simulation (full.md). - **Both:** validate attacks, purchases, teleports, permissions, and custom remotes at the server boundary. ### Audit Checklist **CRITICAL:** Server-authoritative state · Documented authority model · Validate all arg types · Rate limit remotes · Session-lock DataStore · No client currency mutations · ProcessReceipt verification · No secrets in client code **HIGH:** Validate custom movement and action transitions · BindToClose protection · Atomic trading · Never trust client values · Use InputActions for simulation input in Server Authority projects · Validate ProximityPrompt/ClickDetector/DragDetector like remotes **MEDIUM:** Server cooldowns · server-computed leaderboards · anti-AFK reward checks · TextService filtering · Script sandboxing for third-party code ### Enforcement Enforcement is a product decision with appeal implications. `Players:BanAsync`/`UnbanAsync` are server-only and need `Players.BanningEnabled`; `pcall` them. Duration, reason limits and device blocks: full.md. ### Anti-Patterns Don't obfuscate client code, use `_G` for security, kick without logging, over-validate movement, or rely on client anti-cheat. See `references/full.md` for detailed examples.
