What roblox-animations does

The skill tells the agent where animation code belongs. Player characters run it from a LocalScript in StarterCharacterScripts; NPCs run it from a Script on the server. Mix those up and the animation never reaches other clients — the mistake most people hit first.

Inside are tables for the core objects (Animation, Animator, AnimationController, AnimationTrack), examples of LoadAnimation and Play with fade, weight and speed arguments, plus handlers for Stopped and GetMarkerReachedSignal. A separate section covers priority order: Idle < Movement < Action < Action2 < Action3 < Action4 < Core, and how weight splits influence between tracks at the same priority.

There is a worked recipe for replacing default animations through the Animate script, with the slot list (idle, walk, run, jump, fall, climb, swim, swimidle, toolnone, toolslash, toollunge). On upper-body-only animation the answer is blunt: no runtime joint masking exists, so the asset itself has to key only the bones you want. No dependencies, no API keys — it is a text reference the agent reads while working.

What it helps with

  • play a character animation that every client can see
  • stop two tracks from fighting over the same joints
  • swap the default run and jump for your own AnimationId values
  • fire a footstep sound on a named keyframe marker
  • animate a prop or vehicle that has no Humanoid

Example prompts for the agent

  • write a LocalScript that plays the character animation with a 0.5 fade
  • my animation isn't visible to other players — check it against the roblox-animations skill
  • replace the default idle and run animations with new asset ids

Questions about roblox-animations

How do I install roblox-animations in Claude?

Run npx skills add sentinelcore/roblox-skills --skill roblox-animations -a claude-code. The skill lands at ~/.claude/skills/roblox-animations/SKILL.md.

What does roblox-animations do?

It gives the agent a reference for Roblox animation: loading and playing tracks, track events, priority and blending, and replacing default character animations.

Why is my NPC animation invisible to other players?

You are playing it from a LocalScript. Server-owned models need a Script on the server, otherwise the track stays local.
