openchatcut — Claude Code skill for video editing and setup
This skill connects a coding agent to OpenChatCut over MCP to inspect and edit local video projects. Use it for timeline work, captions, or exports.
npx skills add 0xsline/OpenChatCut --skill openchatcut -a claude-codeWhat openchatcut does
The skill guides an agent through connecting to OpenChatCut, inspecting a project, and making changes through MCP. Open the editor first. Its default server address is http://localhost:5199/api/external-mcp/mcp.
Before reading or changing a project, the agent starts an edit session and passes its ID to editing tools. In manual mode, the user approves the full draft in OpenChatCut; automatic application goes through review_edit_session. For focused editing tasks, the agent loads the relevant editor skill first. The connection depends on OpenChatCut already running.
The skill also covers MCP failures and edit-session recovery. A change counts as applied only after the session reports applied. Installation instructions are provided for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI, and OpenCode, with platform-specific commands.
What it helps with
- connect a coding agent to OpenChatCut over MCP
- inspect a project's timeline and contents
- make changes through an edit session
- recover from an MCP failure or stale session
- check whether a draft was applied
Example prompts for the agent
- Connect to OpenChatCut and show me the available projects.
- Inspect the selected project's timeline and suggest edits.
- Check the edit session and help recover it after an MCP error.
