ios-simulator — Claude Code skill: test iOS apps on Simulator
Launch, inspect, and debug native, React Native, Expo, and Flutter apps on iOS Simulator from your agent. The agent can tap, type, scroll, validate code changes, and collect error logs.
npx skills add callstack/agent-device --skill ios-simulator -a claude-codeWhat ios-simulator does
ios-simulator is a skill for agent-device that lets an agent interact with iOS Simulator: open apps by name or bundle id, inspect the live UI, perform gestures (tap, text input, scroll), and capture screenshots for validation.
Before first use, install agent-device globally: npm install -g agent-device@latest. After that, the agent can start work immediately—it will request an interactive snapshot and provide error hints if needed. If the agent needs help with a specific command (React DevTools, video recording), it can call agent-device help react-devtools or agent-device help debugging.
Works with native iOS, React Native, Expo, and Flutter. Requires Simulator to be running and the app installed.
What it helps with
- Launch an app on iOS Simulator and check its UI
- Reproduce a user workflow: tap buttons, enter text, scroll through screens
- Capture a screenshot and logs to debug an error
- Validate a code change by running the app again
- Debug a React Native or Flutter app with built-in tools
Example prompts for the agent
- Start the MyApp application on iOS Simulator and show me the home screen
- Open com.example.app, tap the Login button, and fill in test credentials
- Take a screenshot of the crash on the simulator and help me understand what went wrong

--- name: ios-simulator description: Verify and debug native, React Native, Expo, or Flutter apps on an iOS Simulator with agent-device. Use when an agent needs to launch an app, inspect its live UI, tap, type, scroll, validate a code change, collect failure evidence, or reproduce a workflow on an iPhone or iPad Simulator. --- # iOS Simulator Require the `agent-device` CLI to be installed separately before driving a simulator: ```bash npm install -g agent-device@latest ``` Treat installation and upgrades as user-owned setup steps. Do not run that command autonomously or substitute a mutable `npx -y agent-device@latest` invocation. For a normal app-driving task, start immediately. Do not probe first with `--help`, `--version`, `devices`, `appstate`, `snapshot`, or `screenshot`. Target iOS explicitly when opening an app or bundle id: ```bash agent-device open <app-or-bundle-id> --platform ios --foreground ``` Follow the initial interactive snapshot and corrective error hints. If the shell reports that `agent-device` is unavailable, stop and ask the user to install it or expose their existing installation on `PATH`. Only when the task is specialized or a command shape is unclear, read the relevant version-matched help topic: ```bash agent-device help validate # engineering validation and build freshness agent-device help debugging # screenshots, logs, traces, video, and failures agent-device help react-native # React Native and Expo runtime guidance agent-device help react-devtools # React components, props/state/hooks, render profiling agent-device help scripting # durable replay and CI workflows ```
