inkos — Claude Code skill: what it does, how to install
A harness for text work: novels, scripts, storyboards, interactive film, long translation. The agent writes to files as separate actions and reports an artifact revision you can check.

InkOS is a harness for text work. You talk the idea through in chat; writing into a project happens as capability actions. The agent picks the profile itself: long novel, short story, script, storyboard, interactive film, open world, derivative work tied to a source canon, or long-document translation. Skills supply method, not write access.
A chapter counts as done when an action returns its result and artifact revision, not when the reply sounds finished. That split matters: check the reference before trusting the summary. Revisions come in modes. spot-fix patches exact local text, polish touches prose surface only, rewrite redoes the passage, rework restructures scenes on an explicit request, and anti-detect runs the de-slop cleanup.
Story assets stay in Markdown, while state and action results are typed JSON. Everything runs from the CLI — inkos studio, inkos tui, inkos book create --title "My Story" --genre other --lang en, inkos write next <book-id> --count 3, inkos review <book-id>, inkos export <book-id> --format epub. A model or provider failure stays an operational error and never becomes a plot event. An interrupted action keeps the last committed artifact, so you can retry from where it stopped.
What it helps with
- draft a novel chapter by chapter from an outline
- revise a passage while the source revision survives
- build a storyboard with typed image prompts
- translate a long document with one glossary
- shape a scene tree for an interactive film
Example prompts for the agent
- @inkos-story-review go through chapter 8 and tell me whether it keeps the promise made to the reader at the start
- @inkos-imitation-writing keep the cadence of the sample but give me a new plot
- Run `inkos write next <book-id> --count 3` and show me the artifact revision it produced

Questions about inkos
How do I install inkos in Claude Code?
With npx: run npx skills add Narcooo/inkos --skill inkos -a claude-code first, then npx skills add Narcooo/inkos --skill skills -a claude-code. The skill ends up at ~/.claude/skills/skills/SKILL.md.
What does inkos do?
It carries a text project from chapter planning and drafting through review, revision and export. Profiles cover novels, short stories, scripts, storyboards, interactive film, open worlds, derivative works and translation.
What is the difference between `polish` and `rework`?
polish only changes the surface of the prose. rework restructures scenes, and you call it when you ask for a structural change outright.
