wrap-up · gasserane — Claude Code skill: close a session and commit
This skill closes a working session: it gathers git state, errors and open tasks, delivers a status report, then commits and pushes pending work.
npx skills add gasserane/personal-skills --skill wrap-up -a claude-codeWhat wrap-up does
Six phases run in order: preflight on the repo and branch, read-only gathering, one consolidated report, a gated commit and push, optional follow-ups, and a handoff for the next session. Gathering covers every repo the session wrote to, not just the current directory. Skip that and a clean tree in the work folder can hide real output sitting elsewhere.
report (or --report-only) stops after the report — no writes, no commit, no handoff. If an earlier run in the same session halted at the gate, a second call resumes instead of repeating the review: harness check, gates, commit and push, handoff. Passing continue forces a handoff even when nothing looks open.
The handoff goes into a separate file per workstream, so parallel sessions do not clobber each other's notes. A repo with no remote simply skips the push; the skill never offers to add an origin. The date comes from the session environment rather than a guess.
What it helps with
- check git state before closing a session
- commit and push work that is still pending
- get a status report with no commit
- hand context to the next session as a file
- catch work done in a second repository
Example prompts for the agent
- /wrap-up
- /wrap-up report
- /wrap-up continue
