What accreditation-desk-review does

This skill covers the desk-review stage. You read the Member Association's self-assessment and the evidence it submitted, weigh each standard and check against the Cycle 4 guideline, and write up reviewer conclusions plus questions for the interview. It works alongside the Word template you write into.

A bundled script, scripts/deskreview.py, handles the fiddly parts, and references/reliability-playbook.md explains the method. The script backs up the template, finds cells by their content rather than by table coordinates, pulls text out of .pdf, .docx, .xlsx and .txt files, appends a purple REVIEWER CONCLUSIONS: block under the association's own text, and then verifies the result cell by cell. Scanned PDFs with no text layer, legacy .doc files, images and archives get flagged as data gaps instead of being guessed at.

Install pypdf first if it is missing: python -m pip install pypdf. Run Python with PYTHONUTF8=1, or Romanian and French diacritics will come out mangled. Close the template in Word before writing — a write to a locked file fails. The skill is not meant for literature reviews, interview or survey guides, indicator design, or clinical questions about antiretroviral treatment.

What it helps with

  • assess an MA self-assessment against each standard and check
  • write reviewer conclusions into the Word template without overwriting the MA text
  • build the pre-interview document request list
  • draft interview questions tagged NC or CL
  • map prior-cycle standards to current ones and spot recurring non-compliances

Example prompts for the agent

  • Do the desk review for principle 8: assess the evidence and write the conclusions into the template
  • Check whether the documents substantiate the MA self-assessment for standard 3.2
  • Prepare document requests and interview questions for principles 5 and 6
