expansion-retention — Claude Code skill: retention and revenue growth
Builds retention and expansion systems: usage triggers, customer health scoring, churn analysis and NRR work.
npx skills add chadboyda/agent-gtm-skills --skill expansion-retention -a claude-codeWhat expansion-retention does
The skill turns the agent into a GTM strategist focused on post-sale growth. It walks through the NRR formula (starting MRR plus expansion minus contraction and churn), compares your number against segment and pricing-model reference points, and tells you where to start: fix gross retention or build systematic expansion.
There is an expansion trigger matrix. Usage reaching 80% of a plan limit, three teammates invited, repeated hits on a gated feature — each signal maps to an action, a timing window and an owner. A separate section covers health scoring: signal weights, data sources and refresh rates.
Before starting, the skill asks about your NRR, pricing model, customer segmentation, who runs customer success, the main churn reason and your CS stack. Skip those and it states its assumptions instead. You will need product and billing data on hand — without them the health scoring stays a diagram.
What it helps with
- calculate NRR and see whether the base is growing or shrinking
- set up upsell triggers tied to product usage
- build customer health scores from analytics and CRM data
- diagnose churn reasons and fix onboarding gaps
- win back lost accounts through closed-lost re-engagement
Example prompts for the agent
- Calculate our NRR with the formula and tell me which stage we are at
- Build an expansion trigger matrix for a usage-based plan
- What weights should the health score use if we have product analytics and support tickets?
