What competitive-analysis does

The skill runs structured competitor research using Porter's analysis framework and positioning matrices. It produces markdown reports covering executive summaries, company profiles, feature breakdowns, and pricing tiers. When the office-mcp server is configured, it exports assets via create_docx, create_xlsx, and create_chart.

Users begin by naming their product, target rivals, market segment, and geographic scope. You can request quick feature matrices, full company profiles, strategic SWOT reviews, or sales battle cards. The skill specifies en and zh.

Because it relies on public information, it cannot view internal competitor data or proprietary market research. It also does not track price adjustments in real time. If your workflow demands continuous surveillance or confidential telemetry, this skill will fall short.

What it helps with

  • Build a side-by-side feature comparison matrix against rivals
  • Draft sales battle cards highlighting competitor weaknesses
  • Map pricing tiers and entry-level options across the market
  • Conduct a SWOT analysis using Porter's competitor framework

Example prompts for the agent

  • Generate a battle card for Comp A versus our product, focusing on pricing gaps and product weaknesses
  • Create a feature comparison matrix between our tool and top three market alternatives
  • Run a SWOT analysis on Comp B and produce strategic positioning recommendations
