What claude-command-converter does

This skill reads command files from .claude/commands/ and rewrites them into skills/<skill-name>/SKILL.md. It normalizes names to kebab-case by turning dots into hyphens. You must supply a source command path; otherwise, the agent asks for one before proceeding.

During conversion, runtime-only constructs are stripped. The skill turns $ARGUMENTS into an Inputs section, removes raw handoffs frontmatter, and adds a Next Steps section referencing related skills. Frontmatter is trimmed to keep only name and description.

Because platform-specific variables are removed automatically, you should review the generated steps before running them elsewhere. The skill is licensed under AGPL-3.0.

What it helps with

  • convert Claude Code slash commands to portable Agent Skills
  • eliminate $ARGUMENTS and runtime-specific blocks from command files
  • transform handoffs metadata into a readable Next Steps section
  • generate structured Inputs, Workflow, and Outputs documentation

Example prompts for the agent

  • Convert .claude/commands/speckit.specify.md to an agent skill
  • Transform .claude/commands/build.md into standard skill format with name build-tool
