dsql — Claude Code skill: redirect to Aurora DSQL guidance
A deprecated compatibility redirect that points the agent to the canonical Aurora DSQL skill. Use it when old dsql references still appear in a project.
npx skills add awslabs/mcp --skill dsql -a claude-code
npx skills add awslabs/mcp --skill dsql-skill -a claude-codeWhat dsql does
The dsql skill no longer carries DSQL instructions itself. It checks whether the canonical skill from awslabs/agent-plugins is available, and if so, reads its SKILL.md and only the references that skill routes to.
If the canonical skill is missing, the agent explains that DSQL guidance moved to awslabs/agent-plugins. The redirect forbids mixing old and new content: the agent follows one source only.
Installing anything or changing user configuration needs explicit approval first. Reading the canonical repository does not install plugins, hooks, scripts, or MCP servers, so browsing the repo is safe if you just want to look around.
What it helps with
- redirect DSQL requests to the current skill
- keep deprecated and canonical instructions separate
- detect whether the canonical skill is available
- explain where DSQL guidance moved
Example prompts for the agent
- Tell me about Aurora DSQL schemas
- How do I set up authentication for DSQL?
- Show me how to migrate data to Aurora DSQL

Questions about dsql
How do I install dsql in Claude Code?
Run npx skills add awslabs/mcp --skill dsql -a claude-code. Or use npx skills add awslabs/mcp --skill dsql-skill -a claude-code, which places the skill at ~/.claude/skills/dsql-skill/SKILL.md.
What does the dsql skill do?
It redirects the agent to the canonical Aurora DSQL skill in awslabs/agent-plugins. The standalone skill itself is deprecated and contains no DSQL guidance.
Does the dsql skill install the awslabs plugin automatically?
No. The redirect may read the canonical skill for advisory guidance, but it does not install plugins, hooks, scripts, or MCP servers. For Claude Code the installation commands are /plugin marketplace add awslabs/agent-plugins and /plugin install databases-on-aws@agent-plugins-for-aws.

--- name: dsql description: "Deprecated compatibility redirect for Aurora DSQL guidance. Use when a request concerns DSQL, Aurora DSQL, distributed SQL, DSQL schemas, migrations, queries, authentication, performance, or application development." --- # Aurora DSQL Skill Moved This standalone skill is deprecated. The canonical DSQL skill is now: `plugins/databases-on-aws/skills/dsql/SKILL.md` in [`awslabs/agent-plugins`](https://github.com/awslabs/agent-plugins). ## Redirect 1. Check whether the canonical `dsql` skill is already available. 2. If it is available, read and follow its `SKILL.md`, then read only the references that canonical skill routes to. 3. Do not combine canonical guidance with content from this deprecated standalone skill. 4. If the canonical skill is unavailable, explain that the DSQL skill moved to `awslabs/agent-plugins`. 5. Get explicit user approval before installing anything or changing user configuration. Repository-reading tools may read the canonical skill to provide advisory guidance. Reading its repository does not install the plugin, hooks, scripts, or MCP servers. For Claude Code, the verified installation commands are: ```text /plugin marketplace add awslabs/agent-plugins /plugin install databases-on-aws@agent-plugins-for-aws ``` For Codex and Cursor, use the [current canonical installation instructions](https://github.com/awslabs/agent-plugins#installation).
