2d-pixel-perfect — Claude Code skill: install and use
Checks Unity pixel-art rendering when sprites look blurred, shake during motion, or fall off the pixel grid.
npx skills add Unity-Technologies/skills --skill 2d-pixel-perfect -a claude-codeWhat 2d-pixel-perfect does
This skill helps diagnose and configure Unity pixel-art rendering through PixelPerfectCamera. It calls DetectPipeline() before changing anything, then checks the camera, sprite imports, grid snapping, and quality settings.
URP uses UnityEngine.Rendering.Universal.PixelPerfectCamera; Built-in uses UnityEngine.U2D.PixelPerfectCamera. Built-in requires com.unity.2d.pixel-perfect at v6.0.0+, while URP must not add that package. Checking the pipeline first is mandatory because those components cannot be swapped.
It covers blurry textures, Tilemap seams, and migration issues. Reference material includes references/pipeline-detection.cs, references/sprite-settings.cs, and camera setup files. It is not for HDRP or scenes containing only UI; use Canvas Scaler for the latter.
What it helps with
- remove blur from pixel-art sprites
- trace camera jitter and off-grid objects
- configure
PixelPerfectCamerafor URP or Built-in - fix gaps between Tilemap tiles
- update an old URP camera namespace
Example prompts for the agent
- Inspect this Unity pixel-art scene and run
DetectPipeline()before making changes - Diagnose blurred sprites in the current scene, then fix only the failed checks
- Set up
PixelPerfectCamerafor this Tilemap after identifying the render pipeline

Questions about 2d-pixel-perfect
How do I install 2d-pixel-perfect in Claude Code?
Run npx skills add Unity-Technologies/skills --skill 2d-pixel-perfect -a claude-code, then run npx skills add Unity-Technologies/skills --skill 2d-pixel-perfect -a claude-code again. The skill file is at ~/.claude/skills/2d-pixel-perfect/SKILL.md.
What does 2d-pixel-perfect do?
It diagnoses and fixes Unity pixel-art rendering problems. The checks cover the camera component, sprite import settings, snapping, and quality configuration.
Why should com.unity.2d.pixel-perfect not be added to URP?
URP uses the component in UnityEngine.Rendering.Universal. The com.unity.2d.pixel-perfect package is for Built-in and its component does not replace the URP version.
