VPNDetection — Claude Code MCP server: IP checks and setup
Classify an IP address or a list for VPN, proxy, Tor, hosting, and CDN signals. The server also reports database and license details.
claude mcp add --transport http mcp https://mcp.vpndetection.io/mcpWhat VPNDetection does
VPNDetection gives an agent read-only tools to classify IP addresses and inspect database access. It can process a single address or a list, splitting long lists into batches. Database files cannot be fetched through these tools.
Each lookup includes coverage, which identifies the fields returned under the current plan. A missing field is not a negative finding. That distinction matters when an agent interprets the result. There is no my_ip tool: with a hosted connection, the server sees the intermediary's address rather than the user's. Local use requires Node.js 22 or newer. Without an API key, lookups return only ip and is_vpn; additional fields depend on the key and plan.
What it helps with
- check whether an IP belongs to a VPN or proxy
- classify a list of addresses in one request
- inspect the fields available to an API key
- check an organization's database license status
Example prompts for the agent
- Check
203.0.113.10for VPN and proxy classification. - Classify these IP addresses and return a result for each one.
- Show the fields my key can access and the database license statuses.
