vehicle-data — Claude Code MCP server: features and setup
Vincario’s MCP server lets an AI agent decode VINs, check stolen-vehicle records and retrieve market valuations. Use it to ask about a vehicle in natural language.
claude mcp add --transport http vehicle-data https://mcp.vincario.com/mcpWhat vehicle-data does
The server gives an agent four Vincario tools: VIN decoding, listing the fields available for a VIN, checking stolen-vehicle databases and estimating market value with an odometer reading. You can make these requests in plain language.
A Vincario API key is required and must be sent in the X-API-Key HTTP header. The server uses streamable HTTP, with independent requests and no persistent session. Without the key, calls to the Vincario API will not work.
The project describes Docker and local startup with Python 3.11+ and uv. For a local connection, it uses http://localhost:8080 and the API-key header; a hosted Vincario server is also available.
What it helps with
- decode a VIN to retrieve vehicle details
- list the fields available for a VIN
- check whether a vehicle appears in stolen-vehicle records
- get a market valuation using the odometer reading
Example prompts for the agent

Questions about vehicle-data
How do I install vehicle-data in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add --transport http vehicle-data https://mcp.vincario.com/mcp. Requests to Vincario require an API key in the X-API-Key header.
What does vehicle-data do?
It gives an AI agent tools to decode VINs, check stolen-vehicle records and retrieve market valuations. Another tool lists the fields available for a VIN.
What does vehicle-data need to work?
