mcp-server · tago-io — Claude Code MCP server: setup
This MCP server connects an AI assistant to TagoIO accounts. Use it to inspect devices, data, dashboards, and analyses from a coding client.
claude mcp add --env TAGOIO_TOKEN=<TAGOIO_TOKEN> --env TAGOIO_API=<TAGOIO_API> --transport stdio tago-io-mcp-server -- npx -y @tago-io/mcp-serverWhat mcp-server does
mcp-server lets an assistant work with TagoIO resources through natural-language requests. It can inspect device activity, retrieve records, investigate failed analyses, and compare dashboard settings with the data a device sends.
The server also supports account changes: creating devices, drafting dashboards from a description, checking access policies, and handling analysis scripts. Destructive actions, credential rotation, and script uploads go through an assistant confirmation step. The local setup runs the @tago-io/mcp-server package with npx.
A TagoIO Profile Token is required for account access. Without TAGOIO_TOKEN, the server cannot authenticate; some configurations also provide TAGOIO_API.
What it helps with
- find devices that stopped sending data
- diagnose a failed analysis and verify a fix
- create a dashboard from a written layout
- trace a permission error to an access policy
- locate and remove old account files
Example prompts for the agent
- List devices that have stopped reporting and summarize their latest records.
- Inspect the failure in the
Daily Reportanalysis and explain how to correct it. - Create a dashboard for the cold-chain devices with a map and temperature chart.
