mcp · primate-intelligence — Claude Code MCP server for video analysis and setup
This server connects agents to the Primate Vision API to ask questions about video scenes. Use it to check whether a specific event appears in a clip.
claude mcp add --transport http mcp https://api.primateintelligence.ai/mcpWhat mcp does
The server gives an agent tools to register a video from a public HTTPS URL and analyse it with a plain-language question. Results include a yes, no or indeterminate answer, a confidence score and clip timestamps. Before spending credits, the agent can check whether a question can be assessed and preview its estimated cost.
Connect to the hosted server with OAuth, or run the local version through npx. Local use requires PRIMATE_API_KEY as an environment variable; tools do not accept credentials as arguments. Videos must be reachable through public HTTPS URLs, so a private clip without such a URL cannot be submitted.
What it helps with
- check whether a person appears in a video
- locate timestamps for a specific scene
- check if a question can be assessed before analysis
- run several checks against one video
Example prompts for the agent
- Check whether this video contains a person and return the relevant timestamps.
- Tell me whether this clip shows a car, and preview the estimated cost first.
- Check this video for a person and a car.
