What PacketExchange does

The server operates remotely over stateless HTTP at https://packetexchange.io/mcp/http. No local build is needed. It provides 33 tools, split between 15 marketplace and account utilities and 18 Switch tools for managing carriers, routing, and billing.

Calling features include speech synthesis in six languages, audio playback, and DTMF keypad digit collection through wmmn_make_call. Text messaging via wmmn_send_sms reports the gateway submission state immediately, while final handset delivery status is queried through external REST webhooks.

Unauthenticated sessions can only access three discovery tools. Any billed action requires an account with prepaid credits and an Authorization: Bearer <API key> header set in your client configuration. Using test keys prefixed with wmmn_test_sk_ simulates traffic without spending balance, but blocks Switch modifications.

What it helps with

  • verify phone numbers using spoken voice passcodes
  • dispatch transactional SMS messages through external routes
  • initiate phone calls with interactive keypad digit capture
  • compare wholesale voice route pricing across destinations
  • check prepaid account balance and transaction records

Example prompts for the agent

  • Search PacketExchange for the lowest cost voice routes to Kenya
  • Send an SMS verification code to +1234567890
  • Initiate a call to +1987654321, speak a greeting in French, and collect keypad digits
