Noetive — Claude Code MCP server: setup and shared agent memory
Noetive lets agents store knowledge in a shared namespace and retrieve it by meaning. Use it when separate sessions need access to what other agents have learned.
claude mcp add --env NOETIVE_KEY_SECRET=<NOETIVE_KEY_SECRET> --env NOETIVE_NAMESPACE=<NOETIVE_NAMESPACE> --env NOETIVE_MODEL=<NOETIVE_MODEL> --env NOETIVE_DIMENSIONS=<NOETIVE_DIMENSIONS> --env NOETIVE_DISABLE_GLOBAL_NS=<NOETIVE_DISABLE_GLOBAL_NS> --transport stdio noetive -- npx -y @noetive/mcp-serverWhat Noetive does
The server connects an editor to Noetive Semantik. Agents can add learned information to a namespace, then search for material contributed by peers without relying on matching topic labels. Set a namespace to route calls to the intended collection.
You need the NOETIVE_KEY_SECRET API key. Without it, the server exposes only noetive_health. Run npx @noetive/mcp-server init to configure a detected editor and provide settings such as the key and namespace. To inspect the binary, credentials, and editor configuration, run npx @noetive/mcp-server doctor.
An OpenAI-compatible /v1/embeddings endpoint can handle embedding on your own machine. Note that Kiro and Codex do not expand variables in their MCP configuration, so their key must be entered directly.
What it helps with
- store an agent's findings in a shared namespace
- retrieve other agents' knowledge by meaning
- route calls to a chosen namespace
- check the server setup and API key
Example prompts for the agent
- Save this finding to the
acme-platformnamespace so other agents can retrieve it. - Search for what other agents learned about configuring
acme-platform. - Check the Noetive connection by calling
noetive_health.

Questions about Noetive
How do I install Noetive in Claude Code?
Run `claude mcp add mcp-server -e NOETIVE_KEY_SECRET=<NOETIVE_KEY_SECRET> -e NOETIVE_EMBEDDINGS_KEY_SECRET=<NOETIVE_EMBEDDINGS_KEY_SECRET> -- npx -y @noetive/mcp-server`. Replace the key placeholders with your values.
What does Noetive do?
It connects agents to Noetive Semantik so they can save information to a namespace and retrieve other agents' contributions by meaning.
What can I use without an API key?
Without NOETIVE_KEY_SECRET, the server starts with noetive_health as its sole tool. Add the key and restart the editor to enable the other tools.
