Myco — Claude Code MCP server: agent memory across models

An MCP server that keeps your project's context, decisions and taste, and carries them from one model generation to the next. Built for people tired of re-explaining their work.

What Myco: Agent-First Cognitive Substrate does

Myco is an MCP server an agent inhabits like a living armor. Between your turns it runs a metabolic cycle: new material lands as immutable history, the pilot turns that into durable understanding, stale pieces get pruned with a tombstone, and you approve any reshaping at the gate. A self-checking layer catches tampering, drift and runaway cost.

One repo holds three parts over a single wire protocol: a TypeScript operator the agent drives, a Rust substrate and a Python kernel. The doctrine governing all of it sits in the same repo, sealed by a hash chain, so the rules cannot quietly drift away from the code. There is no key to generate or hold.

You build it from source: git clone, then cargo build --release --workspace. Rust 1.80+, Node 22+ and Python 3.13+ are required. This is v0.9-genesis alpha, so expect to be early. Claude users get a ready MCP server in operators/claude/ — drop it into .claude/ or connect it directly.

What it helps with

  • carry project context onto a new model without re-explaining everything
  • trace why a decision was made months ago
  • prune outdated working memory while keeping the history
  • catch tampering or drift in what the agent has accumulated
  • keep agent spend from running away

Example prompts for the agent

  • Connect the Myco MCP server from operators/claude/ and show what entered memory today
  • Run a metabolic cycle: ingest the new material and suggest what to prune
  • Show which decisions from last quarter no longer match the current shape of the project

How to install Myco: Agent-First Cognitive Substrate

Questions about Myco: Agent-First Cognitive Substrate

How do I install Myco in Claude Code?

Build the substrate first: git clone https://github.com/Battam1111/Myco.git, then cd Myco and cargo build --release --workspace. Then take the MCP server from operators/claude/ and drop it into .claude/ or connect it directly. The build needs Rust 1.80+, Node 22+ and Python 3.13+.

What does Myco do?

It holds an agent's working memory and context across model generations. Between your turns it ingests new material, forges it into durable understanding and prunes what no longer fits the work.

Which platforms does Myco work with?

Any host that speaks MCP: Claude, Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf, Zed and others. Claude gets its own MCP server in the repository.
