Microsoft Project — Claude Code MCP server: setup
This MCP server reads and audits Microsoft Project schedules, then writes back verified changes. Use it to inspect dates, resources, risks, and baselines.
Open on GitHubWhat Microsoft Project does
The server accepts .mpp, Primavera .xer, and MSPDI .xml files. It can answer questions about the critical path, overloaded resources, delay impact, and DCMA schedule quality. Analysis runs on the server, so the agent does not need to pull the whole plan into context.
Its tools cover project sessions, filtered reads, schedule analysis, and typed writes, including project_open, tasks_query, schedule_analyze, schedule_qa, tasks_write, and links_write. Changes are read back from the model before they are reported, while cyclic links are rejected before application. Install it as a .NET tool, without Java or Microsoft Project. In Claude Code, connect it with claude mcp add horizun-msproject-mcp -- horizun-msproject-mcp.
What it helps with
- inspect the critical path and available float
- identify overloaded resources
- run a DCMA-14 schedule check
- compare the baseline with the current plan
- measure the effect of a schedule delay
Example prompts for the agent
- Open
plan.mppand report the critical path, float, and overloaded resources. - Run a DCMA-14 review on this schedule and list the findings.
- Add the dependency between these tasks, reschedule the plan, and report the resulting finish date.
