LogiSheets — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install
A local Rust spreadsheet engine that replaces cell coordinates with named tables. Agents build genuine .xlsx files without breaking formulas on row shifts.
claude mcp add --env LOGISHEETS_MCP_TOOLS=<LOGISHEETS_MCP_TOOLS> --transport stdio logisheets -- npx -y logisheets-mcpWhat LogiSheets does
The server runs on your machine. It opens no network sockets. Instead of tracking cell addresses like B8, the model manages named tables with keyed rows and labeled columns. You define a calculation rule once per column, and the engine keeps computed cells safe from manual overwrites.
Table schemas and field descriptions stay inside the final .xlsx file. A fresh agent session retrieves structures and rules through list_blocks and describe_block without parsing every single cell. Charts built with chart_from_block write native Excel c:chartSpace elements that link to fields, staying synchronized when rows change.
Execution requires Node.js with npx. Restricting available tools requires defining the LOGISHEETS_MCP_TOOLS environment variable at startup.
What it helps with
- build financial models in .xlsx format without coordinate drift errors
- apply calculation rules across entire table columns in one step
- generate native Excel charts that refresh when source data updates
- inspect workbook schema in later sessions without loading full cell grids
Example prompts for the agent
- Set up a proj block with year and revenue columns, assign margin logic, and write it to model.xlsx
- Convert the raw range in data.xlsx into a structured block using convert_to_block
- Insert a native Excel chart from block rev using chart_from_block

Questions about LogiSheets
How to install LogiSheets in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add logisheets-mcp -- npx -y logisheets-mcp. To configure specific tool permissions, use claude mcp add --env LOGISHEETS_MCP_TOOLS=<LOGISHEETS_MCP_TOOLS> --transport stdio logisheets -- npx -y logisheets-mcp.
What does LogiSheets do?
It connects your coding agent to a Rust spreadsheet engine to manipulate .xlsx files locally. The server replaces raw A1 coordinates with structured blocks and column-level formulas.
How do blocks differ from regular spreadsheet grids?
Formulas bind to column names instead of individual cell coordinates. Inserting rows or reshaping sheets does not break rules or detach native charts.
