korean-rnd-regs-mcp — Claude Code MCP server
Looks up South Korean national R&D regulations from a plain-language case description and returns cited provisions. Useful when you need the article, not a summary.
claude mcp add korean-rnd-regs-mcp -e LAW_API_KEY=<LAW_API_KEY> -- uvx korean-rnd-regs-mcpWhat korean-rnd-regs-mcp does
This server answers questions about the rules governing state-funded research in South Korea. Give it a case in ordinary words, and the agent calls the server's tools to pick the relevant acts and print the article text with numbers and provision_id values.
There are two layers inside. One covers the framework act on national R&D plus its decree and rule, along with sector families: land and transport, industrial technology, small business, health and medical, academic research, university-industry cooperation, corporate labs, the research industry, lab safety, defence R&D and performance evaluation. The other holds cross-cutting administrative guidance: spending rules, limits on running several projects at once, equipment standards, research notebooks, data handling, security. A separate tool searches explanatory manuals and a casebook of improper spending.
The server needs a LAW_API_KEY, passed as an environment variable when you register it. Queries go to the national law portal's OpenAPI. Answers vary by model; the description suggests using models with a higher effort setting. Manuals and casebooks are background material, so any conclusion still has to point at a real article.
What it helps with
- find which statutory articles apply to a grant situation
- resolve conflicts between an act and its subordinate decree
- check what counts as an allowable project expense
- confirm the limits on holding several projects at once
- review examples of improper R&D spending
Example prompts for the agent
- Find the provisions that cover moving part of a project's tasks and budget to another institution without prior approval
- Check the regulations on buying equipment with grant money
- Show the rules for research notebooks and pull casebook examples of violations
