What FableCut does

FableCut is a browser-based, non-linear video editor. Its project.json describes media, clips, tracks, effects, keyframes and transitions. An agent can edit that document while the open editor refreshes the timeline.

The editor supports moving, trimming and splitting clips, plus working with audio and video tracks, transitions and markers. Locked clips stay off-limits unless an operation sets force: true. Video export uses FFmpeg, so that step depends on FFmpeg.

What it helps with

  • assemble a video from timeline clips
  • trim or split a clip at the playhead
  • add transitions between clips
  • separate a clip's video and audio

Example prompts for the agent

  • Arrange the project's clips on the timeline to assemble a video.
  • Trim the selected clip and add a transition at the cut.
  • Unlink the selected clip's video and audio so I can edit them separately.
