DevProjex — Claude Code MCP server: features and setup
DevProjex gives an agent selected project context through MCP and masks detected secrets. Use it when an agent needs to inspect code with read-only access.
claude mcp add devprojex -- npx -y devprojexWhat DevProjex does
The server exposes context from a folder or Git repository to an agent without allowing it to write to the project. Detected secrets are masked in MCP responses, and that protection cannot be switched off. Its eight tools share an engine with the DevProjex app; Live Context lets you set the agent’s focus by selecting files in the app.
Start it with npx devprojex; running the npm package requires Node.js 20+. Check your Node.js version first. The project contents stay local, and the server collects no telemetry. The npm package includes the MCP server, CLI, and Terminal Workspace, but not the desktop app.
What it helps with
- give an agent context from a folder or Git repository
- limit an agent to read-only project access
- mask detected secrets in MCP responses
- focus an agent on files selected in the app
Example prompts for the agent
- Inspect this project through DevProjex and explain how the application starts.
- Review the selected project files and find the authentication flow.
- Summarize this repository using the context available through DevProjex.
