pac-update-status — Claude Code command: PAC ticket status
Moves a Product as Code ticket to a new status, reassigns it, or logs a progress note. Handy when your tickets live in .pac/ and you want to manage them without leaving the terminal.
npx claude-code-templates@latest --command project-management/pac-update-statusWhat pac-update-status does
The command reads YAML tickets from .pac/tickets/. It first checks the PAC setup and counts active tickets, then locates the one you mean, loads its current state and verifies the transition is allowed. The ticket file is rewritten with the new status and a timestamp, and the parent epic gets its progress refreshed.
Statuses are backlog, in-progress, review, blocked, done and cancelled. The main path runs backlog → in-progress → review → done, while blocked and cancelled sit off to the side as intermediate states. Flags decide what changes: --ticket <ticket-id>, --status <status>, --assignee <assignee>, --comment <comment>, plus --epic <epic-id> to narrow the list. Leave out --ticket and it asks you to pick one.
Tool access is limited to Read, Write, Edit and Bash. There is a git hook in the flow: in-progress prompts a branch, review prompts a pull request, done prompts a merge. Those are suggestions only, so in a repo that is not set up for git they stay plain text in the summary.
What it helps with
- flip a ticket from backlog to in-progress in one call
- hand a ticket to another assignee without editing YAML by hand
- attach a progress comment to the ticket file
- see which tickets changed over the past week
- refresh epic progress once a child ticket closes
Example prompts for the agent
- Move ticket PAC-12 to in-progress and assign it to me
- Add a comment to PAC-7: waiting on review from the team
- List tickets in the auth epic and suggest which ones to move to review
